Like everyone, we are experiencing things we never have before. I’m sure it’s no surprise to anyone that we have canceled the “Celebrate & Support Our Troops” fundraiser scheduled for April 23rd. We WILL reschedule but at this time it is just a “wait and see” situation as changes are occurring so rapidly.
We have sold some tickets and have collected auction items and donations. We will make a future decision whether to keep the auction items until the event is rescheduled or consider an on-line auction.
The spring fundraiser is a major portion of our budget for the year. At this time we will only purchase items to “fill in” where needed and use funds on hand for shipping what we have available.
Operation: Quiet Comfort was established in July 2004 for the purpose of honoring and comforting members of the U.S. Armed Forces who are injured while serving in harm’s way, and to provide support to the medical staff who care for them. This is done mainly by sending care packages to military units overseas to be distributed to those in need.
OQC is a non-profit organization staffed entirely by volunteers across the United States and funded solely through donations. Currently most purchasing and ALL packing and shipping take place in Plymouth, IN with the help of many volunteers. There are multiple opportunities to assist by donating your time, talent or resources. If you or anyone you know would like to contribute in any way, please contact Jan Houin.
